Nnedi Okorafor est un auteur nigérian-américain de science-fiction, de fantasy et de réalisme magique d’inspiration africaine pour enfants et adultes. Parmi ses œuvres, citons Who Fears Death (actuellement en cours de développement sur HBO pour en faire une série télévisée), la trilogie de nouvelles Binti, The Book of Phoenix, les livres Akata et Lagoon.  Elle a remporté les prix Hugo, Nebula, World Fantasy, Locus et Lodestar, a été nominée pour le prix Eisner et son premier roman, Zahrah the Windseeker, a remporté le prestigieux prix Wole Soyinka de littérature. Nnedi a également écrit des bandes dessinées pour Marvel, notamment Black Panther : Long Live the King et Wakanda Forever (avec les Dora Milaje) et la série Shuri. Sa série de bandes dessinées de science-fiction LaGuardia (chez Dark Horse) a été nominée pour les prix Eisner et Hugo, et son mémoire Broken.

Places & Outer Spaces est nominé pour le Locus Award.  Nnedi est également en train de créer et de coécrire l’adaptation de Wild Seed d’Octavia Butler avec Viola Davis et le réalisateur kenyan Wanuri Kahiu. Nnedi est titulaire de deux MA (littérature et journalisme) et d’un doctorat (littérature). Elle vit avec sa fille Anyaugo et sa famille dans l’Illinois.
